Welcome to Phortse 2001, the website for the Phortse village development project of 2001.

As you read this life is going on in a remote mountain village in Nepal. Nestling in the foothills of Everest lies the village of Phortse; a community of Sherpa's working together to develop their village.

This site is dedicated to all those people who have helped out in the planning, preparation and execution of this project in Phortse, and to the Sherpa people of Phortse with whom we have become close friends.
